Privacy Policy

1. Collection notice
The personal information collected through this site is collected under the authority of the City of Toronto Act, 2006, S.O. 2006, c.11, Sched. A, s. 6, 7 and 8. The information is used for processing payment for online ferry tickets and passes, for aggregate statistical reporting, for contacting clients regarding online ticketing changes and email notifications, and for issuing receipts.

2. What we collect
- Name, email and phone number when you place an order.
- Billing address when entered (used by the payment processor for AVS fraud screening).
- Order details: date of travel, ticket type and quantity, total amount paid.
- Payment-method tokens and the last four digits of the card used. We do not store full card numbers.
- Anonymised technical data: a session cookie, an HTTP access log truncated to the first three octets of the IP, and a randomised page-view identifier used for capacity planning.
3. What we do not collect
- No social-media trackers.
- No advertising cookies.
- No third-party analytics on this domain.
- No marketing profile data is built from your orders.
4. How long we keep it
Order records are retained for seven years to satisfy provincial tax law (the Retail Sales Tax Act and the Excise Tax Act). After seven years they are deleted on a monthly purge cycle. Truncated access logs are kept for 14 days.
5. Sharing
Personal data is shared only with: (a) the PCI-DSS compliant payment processor that handles your transaction, under a written data-processing agreement; (b) the Canada Revenue Agency or City of Toronto auditors where required by law.
6. Your rights under MFIPPA
If you are an Ontario resident you have the right under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA) to request access to or correction of your personal information held by the City. Contact the City Clerk’s Office at 416-392-7033 to make a request.
7. Children
Online accounts are not collected from children under 14. Parents purchase tickets on their behalf.
8. Changes
If we change this policy we will publish the new version on this page with a new effective date. Substantive changes will be linked on the home page for at least 30 days.
